Tygerberg Hospital in Parow Valley is currently seeking a General Stores Worker for their Main Pharmacy Stores.

The position, with a vacancy number of POST 28/348, comes with a salary of R125,373 per annum. The ideal candidate should have a minimum requirement of basic numeracy and literacy, as well as appropriate experience in medical stores.

The role requires the ability to manage heavy cartons on a continuous basis, as well as good communication skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape. Additionally, the candidate should possess good interpersonal and communication skills.

As a General Stores Worker, the successful candidate will be responsible for receiving stock deliveries of non-pharmaceutical goods from suppliers. They will be required to open cartons and check contents for correctness against the invoice, noting expiry dates and batch numbers. Inspecting external appearance for damage and accuracy is also an important part of the job.

The General Stores Worker will need to deliver finished, final, and packaged pharmaceutical items to designated areas in the hospital and place checked stock in designated places. They will also be responsible for maintaining the cold chain for temperature-sensitive items and assisting with issuing stock to the pharmacy.

Conducting stocktaking and maintaining neat, tidy, and hygienic areas is also part of the job. Any deviations and discrepancies should be reported immediately to management.
