The Department of Public Works is seeking a General Worker who will be responsible for Movable Asset Management. This is a 36-month contract position with a salary of R147 036 per annum. The position is based in the Cape Town Regional Office, and applicants must meet certain requirements to be eligible for the role.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have an ABET certificate equivalent to Grade 10. Good communication skills are essential, as is honesty and reliability. Candidates must also be in good physical health to cope with the demands of the role, and they must be able to work well in a team. A valid Driver’s License is also required.

GENERAL WORKER VACANCY

The General Worker will be responsible for performing general assistance work and providing service to the department. This will include loading, packing, and unloading assets to the relevant location. They will also be responsible for moving and transporting assets to the appropriate destination or location identified by the user department. To ensure that no items are damaged during the transportation process, the General Worker will be required to wrap assets in protective material suitable for that particular asset GENERAL WORKER VACANCY.

In addition to transporting assets, the General Worker will also be responsible for arranging and packing furniture into the relevant store. They will also be required to place assets in the requested positions at the new location. To ensure that all assets are accounted for, the General Worker will perform inventory monitoring and ensure that no items are lost during the transportation process.

The General Worker will also be responsible for assisting with the physical cleaning of stores and assets at all times. This will include sweeping, mopping, and dusting to ensure that all areas are kept clean and tidy.
