• Must have basic literacy or at least completed Grade 10, with Grade 12 being an advantage.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license is also an added advantage.
• Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and must be bilingual.
• Should be able to follow and carry out instructions.
• Must be physically fit and have basic skills for manual labor.
• Must be self-disciplined and hardworking.
• No prior experience is required, but 0 to 1 year of relevant experience in general work is preferred.

Duties:

• Performs general labor tasks such as litter control at a waste disposal facility.
• Helps with the upkeep and operations of the landfill.
• Assists at the recycling center when needed.
• Helps direct and control traffic at the landfill.
• Assists customers with waste disposal.
• Cleans up sharp objects to prevent customer flat tires.
• Stores equipment safely and cleans pavements.
• Loads and unloads materials and equipment.
• Removes refuse from households.
• Sweeps streets, sidewalks, and other areas.
• Clean main roads and public spaces, including removing building rubble.
• Empty dustbins and clean streets.
• Clean areas in front of buildings, taxi and bus ranks, and open spaces.
• Keep municipal buildings and facilities clean.
• Perform additional waste management duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
• Follow supervisor’s instructions to ensure efficient work.
• Use garden tools to maintain sports fields, flowerbeds, and pavements.
• Clean parks, cemeteries, clinics, libraries, sports centers, and other municipal buildings.
• Place traffic signs to warn of workers on roads and pavements.
• Load and unload solid waste and equipment.
• Follow legal instructions for smooth running of the section.

EPWP General Worker, This job is only open to residents of Midvaal. The salary is R140.85 per day for the contract period of December 1, 2023 to May 30, 2024.
